statement from blackmarston
Blackmarston is Herefordshire’s only primary special school for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties from age 2 to 11. Currently there are approx 70 pupils who attend, the numbers are continuing to rise. The school was built for 40 so as you can imagine we are bursting at the seams! The Local Authority have set aside some funding for an extension to our building which has already started and will be finished by September 2013. However, in these very tight economic times the funding will not provide for the very important sensory equipment for our new light and dark rooms and for new play areas – this equipment is, of course, extremely expensive but this is where we hope that you may feel able to support us.
All money raised will go directly to The Friends of Blackmarston Sensory Appeal.
my view on blackmarston
I'm extremely proud to be raising money for Blackmarston. Since Erin has started there she has come on leaps and bounds. She is now walking (with a bit of support-I call it the Thunderbirds puppet walk!) and an extremely happy little girl. At Blackmarston she does all kinds of activities including swimming, trampolining, horse riding, music therapy and getting messy!
Blackmarston also do family days and sibling workshops, We as a family have all benefited from these, the sibling workshops extremely popular with Jack as hes been swimming, to Playplanet and been treated to lunch, all at the same time making new friends.
Blackmarston is a fabulous place. The staff never let anything get in their way, the children love it there and they are all one big family.
I love the fact that Erin goes there and she is part of that family.
